Victims of Summer Heat and Pre-Monsoon saved by youth at PAWS-Mumbai in Mumbai, Navi Mumbai and Thane

Plant & Animals Welfare Society – Mumbai (PAWS-Mumbai)rescued team possible to attend more than 50 calls in 2 weeks and have saved life of birds, reptiles and animals who are victims of both summer heat as well as pre-monsoon rain. Birds like Kite’s, Owl’s, Cuckoo, Crow’s, Pigeon’s, Sparrow, Coppersmith and Snakes like Cobra, Russell’s Viper, Rat Snake, Sand Boa, Buff – Striped Keelback  and Squirrel were some of the species which were rescued from Mumbai, Navi Mumbai and Thane area.

In this summer the temperature was too hot so the birds, animals are becoming victim of summer heat stroke and sometime they  too seen coming in search of cool place in residential area. And in other hand birds lost their nest due to storm winds or sometime citizen cut trees under the name of trimming and holes of snake fill with water so they come out and seen in residential area.

It seen some of our student volunteers are very active in helping us in attending call of rescue, its good sign that today youth communities are very concent about protection of nature to keep ecological balance said Sunish Subramanian Kunju, Hony. Please ensure safety step to keep snake away …….

Fill / close all the burrows, holes, cracks and crevices in and around your residential areas.
Keep your back yards and surrounding area of your home free and clean from grass and bushes.
Try to keep tree branches and creepers away from window.
If you see any snake in your vicinity please call snake rescued team.

Help birds in this monsoon ……….
 
Avoid cutting or trimming trees having bird nest.
If you see any bird fallen on ground due to wind, rescue and keep it in safe place and call Birds rescue team.
Don’t keep any rescue bird in cage as it is cruel and illegal under various animal protection acts.
