Makar Sankranti PAWS-Mumbai Rescue - First Aid Team Update & Appeal to the Citizen

Makar Sankranti Plant & Animals Welfare Society - Mumbai (PAWS-Mumbai) Rescue - First Aid Team Update of Area Thane to Ghatkopar, Powai, Navi Mumbai

14 January 2013 : 4 Pigeon , 2 Kite. No dead case reported
15 January 2013 : 2 Pigeon, 1 Kite. 1 Pigeon and 1 Kite dead case reported
16 January 2013 : 2 Pigeon,  1 Kite. No dead case reported
Total 7 Pigeon, 3 Kites rescued and 1 Pigeon, 1 Kite dead case reported.

No Major injury case recorded in the above areas and good response from citizen, community site awareness plays important role.

 PAWS-Mumbai APPEAL to the citizen and housing societies, please take initiative to remove all the waste Manjas & kites which are hanging on the tree and nearby areas of your society and save the life of birds as due to which birds gets entangle on it, get injury.

Let celebrate Makar Sankranti without Kites

Plant & Animals Welfare Society – Mumbai appeal to the citizen not to fly Kites as the manja (glass coated thread) kills, injures and many a time birds become life time handicaps every year. The... ill-effect is seen for long days after the day of festival too.

Please don’t fly kites especial area near to birds feeding areas, bird nesting areas, etc. and not to use glass coated thread or Chinese Manja which is very dangers to both birds as well as humans too.

PAWS-Mumbai team in 2012 Makar Sankranti rescued 2 Kite, 1 Sparrow, 1 Owl & 5 Pigeons from area between Thane to Ghatkopar and Powai, its good sign citizen are aware and celebrate the festival cruelty free.

If you see a bird in trouble please report to nearest animal shelter as early as possible and you can also call Fire Brigade by dialing 101 if the birds you want to rescue from height.
