Fact about Red San Boa / Indian Sand Boa / John's Earth Boa : Its thick rounded body in red color, short, blunt tail whose head looks similar to trail and small eyes have vertical pupils so it is been called as two headed Snake.  Recently it have been seen poaching and smuggling of this species, believed to have medicinal properties, continue in part of the country and  it also have blind faith they hold a great value in the regions prominent religion as far as being “Luck” or “Promising wealth” to whomever owns this species said Sunish.

Sunish added Boa’s are also treated especially horribly during Mahashivratri and Nagpanchami festival. Snakes charmers make ‘eyes and a mouth’ by burning holes in their tails with a match stick, and then they put hot wax in those holes and claim that they have two heads. Boa is protected species under Wildlife Protection Act, 1972 and torturing or causing pain or suffering is an offence under Prevention of cruelty to Animals Act, 1960.
