Deer horn found by a Bhandup resident near Khindipada Pipe Line, got surrender to Forest Department after PAWS-Mumbai taken up the issue

MUMBAI : Plant & Animals Welfare Society - Mumbai (PAWS-Mumbai) Office have received a photographs which was circulated in Bhandup of a person holding DEER HORN, following to the information PAWS-Mumbai team have investigated the issue and found that the person name is Yashwant Thombra, he is the resident of  Bhandup. As per the view of Yawsant, he have found this DEER HORN from some children playing with it near Khindipada Pipe Line at Bhandup (West). Which he taken from them and brought it home. As he is not having any knowledge about the laws, when we told that it is illegal under Wildlife Protection Act, 1972 and told to surrender it to Forest Department immediately. After talking to Mr. V.P. Patil the Divisional Forest Officer of Anti Poaching Unit, we have taken Yashwant to the Forest Office and handed over the Deer Horn to them.

In 2006, after PAWS-Mumbai complaint, Forest Department has also seized 120 Kg of deer’s horns from custody of Powai Garden MCGM Authority in Mumbai said Sunish.
