PAWS-Mumbai freed 2 Turtle’s and 2 Snake’s back into nature safely

A Powai resident Agastya Kapoor who found a Indian Flap Shell Turtle from some children, he rescued and informed about this incident to PAWS-Mumbai team, later PAWS-Mumbai rescue... team reached the spot and taken the custody of the turtle. Turtle have some infection on the shell so it has kept under treatment for some days and later it was released safely in a Pound by PAWS-Mumbai Chief Patron Shri. Abhijeet Rane. Sunish Subramanain Kunju - Hony. Animal Welfare Officer associated with PAWS-Mumbai said Indian Flap Shell Turtle is protected species under Wildlife Protection Act, 1972 and keeping or selling of this wildlife is a crime. This type turtle is commonly found in wells and during rainy season the wells overflows and turtle or other living creature flowed out of well, which some time found in drainage, water collected area or on roads. So children’s may have found and it’s good to see alert citizen helped in saving this beautiful creature and success in sending back to its natural habitat safely.

Red Eared Slider Turtle which is not native species and was rescued from an illegal seller by PAWS-Mumbai team, have also released in an artificial pound, where it is enjoying its freedom said Sunish.
 

PAWS-Mumbai Snake Rescue Team rescued 2 Snake – Cobra (Venomous) and Rat Snake (Non Venomous) from the residential area of Mulund and Bhandup. Later released backed into the natural habitat of forest area said Sunish.
