PAWS-Mumbai Founder Sunish Subramanian Kunju selected as Spotlighting individual making a difference at the Sanctuary Wildlife Award 2013

December 6, 2013, Friday | MUMBAI : Sanctuary Wildlife Award were instituted to honour and draw national attention to the men and woman who are working to protect wild India. Every year, Sanctuary brings heartwarming stories of people whose work has made a difference to our country and planet.

During the ceremony, Sanctuary also shine a spotlight on individuals, who in their own way make a difference and help make a city and the nation a better place for our children. The idea is to let the audience know that whether they are journalists, doctors, businessmen, artists, students or homemakers, they too can and must act to make a difference.

Sunish Subramanian Kunju who is the founder of Plant & Animals Welfare Society – Mumbai (PAWS-Mumbai) was selected also with knowing face like Ex. Information Commissioner and RTI Activist Shri. Shailesh Gandhi and Actress, Model, Former Asia Pacific International Dia Mirza were few of them.

As per the letter of Sanctuary it said “We are delighted that you have consented to allow us to shine a spotlight on you for your work to stop the illegal captivity of birds and animals and to showcase your work for the benefit of the audience and demonstrate how individual actions can and will make a difference.”

While talking on this occasion Sunish said I am very happy that our youth conservation movement which we have started in year 2002, is started recognizing by societies and activist. When I received a call from Sanctuary Asia – Editor Mr. Bittu Sahgal, I was very surprised and very happy to get this invitation.  He further said I am always helped and guided by Mr. Bittu Sahgal and Wildlife Conservation Trust – Director Dr. Anish Andheria in my conservation work which we youth do in our small way.

While talking about his future plan he said I want to setup a small center cum clinic, where our team at PAWS-Mumbai can keep, treat and take care of injured birds and animals and to start a small charitable dispensary for animals which is today’s need and it’s my dream too.
