Mumbai based activist honored in NEW Delhi with AADHI AABADI WOMAN ACHIEVERS AWARDS 2013

NEW DELHI : Mumbai based young activist NISHA SUBRAMANIAN KUNJU received AADHI AABADI WOMAN ACHIEVERS AWARDS 2013 from the hands of Social Activist Mrs. Varsha Goel for her work in the field of animal welfare and environment protection at Constitutional Club of India, New Delhi, its honoring THE WOMAN OF INDIA motivation exemplified, other recipients of the awards are Shubha Mudgal (Singer), Ingrid Bouterse – Waldring (First Lady of the Republic of Surinam), Vidya Malvade (Actress), Divyanka Tripathi (Television Actress), Nimmi Singh Bedi (Actress), Sukirti Kandpal (Television Actress), Dr. Seema Midha (Tarot Card Expert), Shweta Singh (TV Journalist).

NISHA SUBRAMANIAN KUNJU is born and brought up in the city of Mumbai, started working for the cause of animal welfare as a student member of Smt. Maneka Gandhi’s People for Animals while she was in school. Since childhood she use to observe her brother Sunish Subramanian Kunju, he use to care injured animals and birds, as it’s a noble cause and it’s today need to keep our ecological balance. Later when Plant & Animals Welfare Society – Mumbai (PAWS-Mumbai) was founded in 2002, first she joined him as a volunteer, but now she gives her voluntary time as Administrator - Cum – PRO and she carry out activities involving students into the PAWS-Mumbai. She involve in activities like Wildlife Rescue especially Birds Rescuing from Residential area and releasing back into the natural Habitat of Forest under the supervision of Wildlife Department Staff, Inspection Circus / Zoos as part of AWO PAWS-Mumbai Team Member and report of which is been sending to all authorities for necessary action, Organizing Vaccination Camps for Strays, Giving First Aid & Taking care of Injured Birds which are been rescued by PAWS-Mumbai Team, Creating Awareness about Animal Welfare / Laws, etc., Managing call received by PAWS-Mumbai for help.
 
In 2005, she was appointed as Hony Animal Welfare Officer by Animal Welfare Board of India, Ministry of Environment & Forests, Govt. of India. By seen her work she was been honored with various award like Rajiv Gandhi Excellence Award 2013 at New Delhi from the hands of Union Minister for Coal Shri. Sriprakash Jaiswal and Former Governor of Assam, Orissa & Jharkhand Shri. Syed Sibtey Razi, Karmaveer Chakra 2012 by iCONGO at New Delhi, it's a Global Award for Social Justice and Citizen Action, International Woman's Day Achievers Award 2012 by Mummy's Bachat Gut Magadarshan Kendra, a sister concern of Late Shri. Dina Bama Patil Pratishthan, Hira Manek's International Woman's Day Achievers Award 2012 received from the hands of Shri. Sachin Ahir, Maharashtra Housing and Environment Minister of State, YEPT Woman of Substance Award 2008 on International Women's Day received from the hands of Actor Mukesh Rishi.

She strongly believes that involving student and youths into Animal Welfare & Environment Protection Movement launched by PAWS-Mumbai is make difference, as students and youths are the future citizen of our country.

She is also Programme Co-ordinator of Sparrow Conservation Mission & 20th March : World Sparrow Day – India, which is an initiated by Plant & Animals Welfare Society – Mumbai. She is also Co-founder and trustee of Parivartan Pratishthan and Special Correspondent of Plant & Animal Voice.

Baby Squirrel lost their mother now taken care by volunteers at PAWS-Mumbai

Baby it's time for your feed
16 October, 2013 | Mulund, Mumbai

Two (2) Baby Squirrel separated from their mother and observed by a mulund east resident Rujula Vinod Deshmukh in their building steps at Krishna Kamal, she call-up Plant & Animals Welfare Society – Mumbai for help on 6 October 2013, team lead by Sunish Subramanian Kunju reached the spot and rescued both the baby squirrel, the baby were very thirsty and hungry. When they found, they were just a week old and depend on mother’s milk, PAWS-Mumbai team started taking care like their mother, feeding milk regularly after an hour’s gap.  Great to see both are very playful, they fight with each other and they both love to sleep together. Now they become 15 days old, as we kept in a basket most of the time we keep it open so that they can train themselves to jump and run, one of them have successfully run away and climb the tree but other now too under care and it will be release soon said Nisha Kunju, Administrator of PAWS-Mumbai.
