PAWS-Mumba i launched complaint against Elephant owner / mahouts for selling the hair of elephant tail
Plant & Animals Welfare Society - Mumbai (PAWS-Mumbai) launched written complaint with Senior Police Inspector of Bhandup Police Station and Range Forest Officer of Mobile Squad Thane against the using of Elephants by owner / mahouts for commercial purpose and its subsequent abuse. Selling the hair of elephant tail, which is been used in bracelet & finger ring. As per the information owner / mahouts are been selling the hair for Rupees Two Thousand and above.

PAWS-Mumbai demanded for CZA Circular on total band on Street begging elephant
PAWS-Mumbai also send a letter to Central Zoo Authority (CZA) demanding for a circular on total band of elephant which are been used for begging on street, as the condition of elephants are very pathetic then the captive zoo elephants. As CZA issued circular (File No. 7-5/2006-CZA (Vol.II) Dated 7th November 2009) on banning elephants from zoo collections.
